Meet the Remarkable Pittie Who Defied All Odds and Stole Hearts

A Surprising Discovery

When Adri Herron, the dedicated leader of Sanctuary Rescue in Midlothian, Virginia, received an email about a newborn pit bull without a nose, her curiosity was piqued. The breeder, who lacked experience with such cases, entrusted the 20-hour-old pup to the rescue team the very next day.

Sanctuary Rescue, a small and foster-based organization, became the ideal place for the special puppy, soon named Goosie. Goosie’s air passages were uniquely located in the roof of her mouth. Additionally, she was diagnosed with pituitary dwarfism, ensuring she would always retain her puppy-like appearance.

Adri recalls, “She literally went everywhere with me for the first five weeks. I just put her in a tote bag, she would always wiggle to the top and climb out and I just thought ‘She’s so feisty, I’m going to get kicked out of a restaurant because I’m smuggling puppies in,’”

Interestingly, Goosie continued to bottle-feed until she was 15 weeks old, far longer than the typical four-week period.

Challenges and Triumphs

Despite her spirited nature, Goosie had a few health scares during her initial months at Sanctuary Rescue. She fell ill several times, leading to four stays in the ICU, each a nerve-wracking ordeal.

However, Goosie’s resilience shone through. Mere days after each hospital visit, she bounced back with her usual energy and zest for life. Her determination and willpower impressed everyone around her.

“Really, she deserves all the credit. Every doctor she has seen is completely blown away by her,” Adri remarked.

Goosie’s journey of recovery and growth filled those around her with admiration and hope.
