History
- Date of origin ~ 1961 in Scotland. Came from a farm cat named Suzie. The most distinguishing characteristic of a Fold is it's small ears which fold forward and downward, giving them an impish look.
Colors and Coats Types Available - Scottish Folds come in any and all colors possible (CFA rules) with the exception of those showing evidence of hybridization resulting in the colors chocolate, lavender, the Himalayan pattern, or a combination of these and white. TICA does allow the chocolate and lavender colors. They come in short and long haired varieties.
Grooming and Care - Occasional brushing for short-haired, usual grooming for cat with extra attention paid to ears.
Best
Suitable Environment - They are at home in almost all situations.
Personality Traits - They are sweet-tempered and attentive, devoted and not demanding. They do a
Buddha sit and a prairie-dog stance which I haven't seen with my other cats.
They are medium sized cats. They have large round broadly spaced eyes, well-rounded whisker pads and a short nose with a gentle curve in profile. They come in both long and short-haired
varieties. The kittens are not born with folded ears. The ears that carry the gene usually start folding around the 21st day.
