Holly Was Brought To Be Euthanized Without A Justifiable Reason
One fateful day, Melissa received a heart-wrenching call from a veterinary partner about a senior dog set for euthanasia by her family. Despite the dog not having a life-threatening condition, her family decided to end her life due to inconveniences like peeing on the floor and losing the interest of their grandkids.
Melissa didn’t have room for another dog but couldn’t bear the thought of a needless death. She rushed to the shelter to meet this senior dog, hoping to change the family’s mind. However, her efforts were in vain as the family admitted they simply didn’t like her anymore.
Heartbroken yet determined, Melissa decided to give the dog a chance. She named her Holly and took her back to the Old Dog Home, hoping to provide her with the love she deserved.
Old Dog Home To The Rescue
Holly’s arrival at Old Dog Home seemed almost destined. Although initially scared, she soon adapted and began to rediscover the joys of being a dog. The facility in Conyers, Georgia, provided her a safe haven where she could thrive.
Holly was not suffering from any severe condition but was filthy and had some age-related issues, including a yeast infection. Despite these challenges, she was a loving and friendly girl who just needed a family to appreciate her.
Thanks to Melissa’s dedication, Holly finally found a temporary home where she could experience love and care, something she had been missing for far too long.
“Shuffled Like A Tacky Gift No One Wanted Anymore”
Melissa discovered that Holly had been passed from one place to another after her original owner passed away. This instability had left Holly feeling unwanted and neglected, like a tacky gift no one cared for.
“She’s been shuffled around again like a tacky gift no one wanted in the first place… She relaxed a little… I whispered to her and promised her that from now on, she will always be loved and wanted, no matter what.”
Fortunately, Holly couldn’t have ended up in a better place. The Old Dog Home provided her with unconditional love and ample space to relax. Despite her age, Holly began to show signs of her old, lively self, proving that she still had a zest for life.
Finally In The Right Family
Just five months after her rescue, Holly found her forever home. She was adopted by a loving family with two girls and another dog, who embraced her with open arms.
“Look at this baby girl now living her BEST LIFE. Frog legs, snuggling with her girls, basking in the sun… she’s happy and healthy and making sure her family’s little farm is running smoothly. I can’t tell y’all how happy it makes my heart to see her looking so good,” Melissa wrote.
After a long and tumultuous journey, Holly was finally where she belonged – in the arms of a family that truly loved her.

Why did the family not try to rehome Holly before deciding on euthanasia? It’s so sad to hear about such neglect.

How can people be so heartless? Abandoning a senior dog for peeing on the floor? Absolutely disgusting behavior!
